The Board, administration and employee groups have worked very collaboratively on wages and benefits to achieve a zero budget deficit the last two fiscal years.We routinely have 300-400 requests for open enrollment into the district, three to four times the amount requesting to open enroll out of the district.We have an excellent financial position with an Aa2 with a positive outlook Moody’s rating.We offer a Pre Kindergarten program utilizing our local high quality preschool providers.Nearly 60% of the graduating class of 2013 reported plans to attend a four year college or university and 30% plan to attend a technical/2-year college.Our students’ scores on the Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) exam meet or in most cases exceed the national norms at every grade level the test is administered.Satisfaction surveys distributed annually to staff, students and parents routinely yield very favorable results indicating a very high degree of satisfaction with the school district.This fact is made even more remarkable considering that nearly 75% of our seniors take the ACT each year. ACT scores have been higher than the state average since at least 1992 and have been significantly higher than the state average since the 1997 school year.The percentage of students in grades 3 through 8 and 10 performing at proficient or advanced levels on the Wisconsin Knowledge and Concepts Examination (WKCE) exceeds, in many cases significantly, the state proficiency levels.Some other notable facts about our school district include: E very VAHS graduate achieves their choice of college and career path, as detailed in their personalized learning plan. Every student meets or exceeds the goals of his or her personalized learning plan every school year. Every student’s parent, guardian or advocate participates directly in the design, implementation, and outcomes of that student’s personalized learning plans. Every student in VASD has a personalized learning plan that provides a path to discovery and achievement and that plan is reviewed and changed at least annually based on the student’s needs.This plan includes the following outcomes: The Board of Education, in April of 2013, formally endorsed an ambitious endeavor to provide a personalized learning plan for every student, K -12 by the 2016-2017 school year.Consider a few of the following facts about our district.
